When I moved to the UK 18 months ago, I didn't know anyone. I expected *at best* some awkward handshakes at a trade show, and maybe someone would grab lunch some day? I couldn't have been more wrong.The good people of #ecommerce show up for each other here, and I'm taken back how it all truly functions as a real community. (Sure, there's still awkward handshakes, sure it's not perfect, sure there's still some f*ckup moments.)This week, amongst all the #IRX shenanigans, a whole brilliant crew of you took the time (and a heck of a lot of effort) to make the inaugural f*ckup Nights Birmingham UK a success. :) THANK YOU. So what do you mean it functions like a real community, Kyle? Let me spill the tea (did I do it?) on just *few* ways from Tuesday night:- half of y'all—who I need to note are technically 'direct competitors'—showed up early, and asked if you could help (who does this?!)- Adam, Victoria, 🚀 Kevin and Valeria took a massive leap to share their f*ckups, with BIG courage and a bucket load of insights. 💛 - Valeria Granda brought the night to a halt with the best quote and along with team Rebuy Engine came through with drinks and a load of great food - Adam Pearce and Peter Gardner wrangled half of the eCom Collab Club™️, simply because I needed support, and they're delightful humans- Victoria Locking brought ME a thank you gift?- 🚀 Kevin Traynor, who I'm pretty sure has a booking fee that's twice my salary, flew in from Belfast at no charge simply because he wanted to be there - Colin Stansbury showed up with the BEST energy an event could ever want, and slung invites to half of LinkedIn, just because.- James Hawkins did what James does, and made everyone feel effortlessly right at home- Alan Pilkington 🍀 wrangled in a crew of folks, just because he wanted to help - Molly Bateman proactively jumped in to help at check-in, when one of our team members was ill- Wesley Brooks came out, despite having a 5AM flight the next day- Stefan Loncar flew back early from holiday because he couldn't miss supporting a Midlands event - Sunny Gill showed up from Canada despite lord knows what timezone his body was on- Guillaume Faure and Ryan Petrimoulx both came all the way from Paris to support- Theo Burns was FIRST, buying ticket No 1 within 5min of announcing the event- Jess Hurley wrangled in a brilliant Kubix crew Louisa Scanlan Kimberley White (to aid in Andy Doyle's FOMO)- James Lane and Stephanie Deeley travelled in from *across the street*, and just were the lovely humans they are :)- Hannah Morris, Luke Carthy, Chris Traverse, Rebecca Craggs, Peter Coleman, Chloe Fallon and Dan Walton brought the hometown Brum love - the most important support of all!!- Whitney Weber, Mike Coleman, Shane O'Leary, Paul Rawlings, Shwetank Tamer and everyone else I missed tagging showed up and MADE IT HAPPEN!🙏 Thank you.
